After 10 years of exceptional service to Gippsland families, the Geoff Rossetti Memorial Chapel has just undergone an extensive facelift.

Following feedback from the local community and clergy, Gippsland Funeral Services commissioned Interior Designer Anne-Marie Rush to update the interior of the chapel.

The lighting in the chapel was altered. The main change being the lighting above the central canopy. Three mercury halide lights were added to illuminate the ceiling above the canopy.

All of the canopy lighting has been treated with theatrical gels to change the colour from white to amber.

The colour amber symbolically reflecting the sunrise and sunset of life as well as "warming" the feeling of the space.

Among the other elements updated were the side walls.

8 large panels, 4 on each side wall, were mounted on these walls.

The panels, measuring 2.7m by 1m, are covered with fabric and backed with acoustic material.

The panels both aesthetically soften the walls and acoustically dampen the sound in the chapel.

The side panels have been hung with split battens, allowing for future alteration.

In time, these will be covered in special tapestries to be commissioned by Gippsland Funeral Services.

The sound system has been extended through the chapel with the addition of a dedicated amplifier, mixer system and 6 speakers placed throughout the chapel.

The new sound system ensures that all of the mourners are close to a sound source of exceptional quality.

The committal curtains have been created out of burgundy velvet. The curtains close automatically allowing for a full committal service in the chapel with no need to travel to the crematorium following a service.

The coffin trolley has been trimmed with matching fabric with neat box pleating.

The mat underneath the coffin trolley was custom made to match the curtains and the surrounding parquetry flooring.
